Cowpers Cross

Cowpers Cross - Ancient Voices
The 12th century Cowpers Cross on Ilkley moor, Yorkshire. Battered by centuries, it has been struck by lightning and vandalised - and repaired. Part of it is now a gatepost. It is believed that it was erected to stop locals congregating at a nearby cup-marked stone for a weekly market.
